Exact model comparison

Weston 65-1601-W or 65-1641-W? Compare the exact package

Exact Weston model comparison · dry and wet external bags

Weston’s archive lists the Wet & Dry 65-1601-W as an earlier model, while the separate 65-1641-W has its own current-reference product record. Both should be read as exact model configurations, not as one generic “Weston liquid sealer.” Their model-specific Use & Care booklets are different documents: 65-1601-W is paired with 840351200, and 65-1641-W with 840351201. Both print VC04 and 170 watts, but that shared electrical rating does not prove equal contents, stock, age, or condition.

What the 65-1601-W confirms

The exact 65-1601-W product page describes a dual-stage wet-and-dry design, a built-in date coder, two-roll storage and a starter kit. Its exact manual shows separate DRY VAC & SEAL and WET VAC & SEAL controls, a roll caddy and cutter, PULSE/CANCEL, a date code function and an accessory hose/port. For wet bags, it directs the owner to elevate the sealer on the roll caddy, stand the bag upright and stay below the MAX LIQUID line at about half full. Dry cycles require 20 seconds between operations; its troubleshooting instructions say to allow 30 seconds between wet cycles.

However, the 65-1601-W page does not enumerate the exact starter-kit contents, and its manual says bag rolls may be included with certain models or bought separately. The materials inspected also do not state this model’s maximum bag width or finished pouch length. The roll cutter and storage are confirmed; the precise stock and size of a particular offered bundle are not.

What not to transfer from the 65-1641-W booklet

The 65-1641-W’s separate manual spells out its own package list, including specific roll sizes and bags. That list is not evidence that a 65-1601-W offer has the same contents. For that reason, a need for an exact roll width, included bag type, accessory hose condition, or a complete unused starter kit should trigger a check of the 65-1601-W unit and box, not an assumption based on the adjacent model. The published 65-1641-W name and page are different as well; the model number must be checked on the machine and paperwork.

Choose by the job—and by the offer

For either configuration, the user still has to manage an external heat-seal bag: keep the mouth clean and flat, stand liquid bags upright and follow the marked fill line. The 65-1601-W is best treated as an earlier reference rather than a default-current result because Weston lists it in the archive and its page says RUNOUT. If inspecting one for sale, ask for a photo of the rating label and all included pieces, inspect seals and the hot seal strip, and check whether the caddy/cutter and hose are present. The 65-1641-W’s separate current-reference review offers a more completely documented package. Neither 170-watt figure is a suction or throughput test, and neither model should be treated as continuous-duty equipment given the printed cycle pauses.

For package and food choices, use the 65-1601-W assessment and the separate 65-1641-W assessment. When your requirement is an exact width, a body clearance, or a documented full-liquid range, unknown specifications should not pass the finder simply because the two models look related.
