A useful fit for

Cooled liquid portions or moist solids when an external bag process and deliberate two-minute operating rhythm suit the kitchen.

The main tradeoff

This is not a chamber sealer or a continuous-duty machine. Canister functions require separately purchased compatible vessels.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I require an external heat-bag setup for cooled, unfrozen liquid?

Yes. This exact model has an affirmative Liquid setting for soups and liquids. Follow its preparation, bag placement and cooling instructions.

Can I require liquid bagging together with pulse, double sealing and an onboard cutter?

Yes. Those documented features coexist on the VS-22LB; they do not remove its two-minute operating interval.

Can I require continuous batch operation?

No. Its guide explicitly limits normal use to one operation every two minutes.

The NESCO VS-22LB Premium LiquidLock is an external suction sealer with an unusually relevant distinction: its manufacturer expressly provides a Liquid setting for soups and other liquids. That makes it worth considering when ordinary Dry/Moist machines require a workaround. It does not make the VS-22LB a chamber machine, a canning appliance or a continuous production sealer.

Liquid is a specific use, not a universal moist label

The exact guide identifies Liquid as the setting for soups, liquids and foods containing liquid. The current product page also presents the machine for liquid bagging. That affirmative documentation is why we distinguish this configuration from a sealer whose only evidence is a Moist button. Follow the exact bagging instructions, cool hot contents and keep the open bag edge clean and flat.

The package described on the product page includes stand-up bags among its supplies. Those can make filling a liquid portion easier, but a stable bag during filling still needs careful support during sealing. Leave the space instructed in the guide and position the mouth at the channel stops. The documentation does not give us a universal soup volume, viscosity limit or promise that every thin liquid will behave identically.

Compare the process with a chamber before buying

Here the open bag enters an external suction channel. On the Anova Precision Chamber, the filled bag goes inside a chamber and must fit its internal dimensions. The distinction changes the counter arrangement and the size constraints. An external machine can accept a long bag beyond its body, whereas a chamber requires the food and bag to fit inside the available enclosure.

For a household mainly portioning meat, a simpler VS-15S may cover the real task through its moist-solid preparation route. For someone regularly dividing cooled stews, the LiquidLock's explicitly documented liquid use is a substantive reason to compare it. Decide from the food and process you intend to use, rather than treating the longest feature list as an automatic upgrade.

It also gives control over ordinary portions

Dry, Normal and Gentle choices sit alongside the liquid function. Pulse runs the pump while pressed and stops it when released, followed by a separate Seal operation. That allows gradual compression of a fragile food. Seal can also interrupt an automatic vacuum cycle. These controls help when different items need different handling, though they require the operator to watch the bag.

NESCO describes double heat sealing. Regard the extra closure as a feature to inspect, not a guarantee against a contaminated bag edge. The removable chamber tray catches spills and simplifies access, but liquid in that area still needs attention. A catch tray is not an invitation to ignore the food level or allow the pump to ingest contents.

Its strongest limit is the work interval

Despite its 250-watt input and substantial supply package, the guide says it is not designed for continuous use and approves one operating cycle every two minutes. A large freezer session therefore needs pacing. Cut and label bags, prepare food and organize storage between operations. Do not turn the input wattage into an unsupported speed or duty-cycle claim.

The onboard roll compartment and guided cutter are useful when preparing custom lengths. NESCO documents storage for an 11-inch roll, which should not be confused with a separately verified maximum sealing width. We have not substituted that storage dimension for a bag-capacity specification. If a precise opening width is essential, confirm it for the exact supplies and model before ordering.

Separate bagging from optional container work

The hose and adapter support compatible canister functions, including the Marinate cycle, but canisters are sold separately. That accessory process cannot be merged with the included bag setup to claim that a ready-to-use container system is supplied. Buyers who prefer opening and reclosing a container should budget for the matching vessel as well as the appliance.

For cleaning, unplug first. The removable tray can be washed in warm soapy water; the guide says it is not dishwasher safe. Wipe the body, dry thoroughly and store with the handle unlocked. Refrigeration or freezing still applies to perishable food. Removing air does not make a soup shelf stable.

This assessment comes from the current official VS-22LB page and its exact care guide, without a personal sealing trial. Compare documented liquid-bagging setups with manual pulse and examine each machine's space and work-interval restrictions before choosing.
